Greater Lyon is a metropolitain authority with the responsability for economic development issues (among others). Within the framework of the national cluster policy "Pôles de compétitivité", cluster support policies is an integrated element of the economic development strategy for the city-region. Greater Lyon hosts several clusters of international capacity within the fields of biotechnology, chemical and automobile industry. To support their performance, Greater Lyon offers a liste of services such as support to cluster management and the mobilisation of SME's. Greater Lyon also offers direct financial cluster support for management and projects of R&D. These efforts have contributed to the performance of the clusters and ensured their activities in Lyon.
