CLUSNET Kick-off meeting in Stockholm

Wednesday 25 November 2009

On April 22-24 in Stockholm the first CLUSNET meeting was organised by the Stockholm School of Economics. Representatives from all project partners participated joined by cluster managers from Lyon, Eindhoven & Barcelona.

On April 22-24 the CLUSNET kick-off seminar took place at the beautiful hotel Saltsjöstaden in Stockholm. Organised and hosted by the Stockholm School of Economics, the seminar allowed project partners to meet for a first time and discuss the project and its perspectives for the next 3 years.

After an initial presentation of the CLUSNET by the project manager Per Justesen, professor Örjan Sölvell from the Stockholm School of Economics presented current issues and challenges of cluster development. Clusters have become a global policy tool for economic development raising questions of how public authorities most efficiently can intervene to support economic activities. The presentation of Mr Sölvell furthermore sketched out the methodological approach to be applied in the project.

The kick-off seminar also allowed for a first mapping of partner based clusters to be conducted. This mapping - which will be uploaded on this webpage - will give a comprehensive view of cluster organizations based in partner cities enabling these to engage into inter-cluster linkages. This was also the motivation behind the participation of several cluster managers present during the seminar in Stockholm which also allowed a visit at the Kista Science City.
